Key West Fishing 04-06-16

This is a great time of the year to head down to Key West to take advantage of the bountiful Sailfish run. Lately, we've seen a vast quantity of Cobia also migrating along the Gulf Stream, although close to the surface. Over the weekend, our own Capt. Bill piloted the Outcast offshore where one of his anglers nabbed a monster Cobia, tipping the scales at seventy two lbs.

Key West offers a variety of angling opportunities for vacationing sportsmen and women. Tuesday, Capt. Dan guided our charter vessel, the Coolcast, to the Gulf Stream for some Deep Sea action before coming back to Key West Harbor as the tide rose to fish for trophy Tarpon. The group not only hooked Mahi, Sailfish, Cobia, and Kingfish on live Threadfins offshore, but also two Tarpon weighing one hundred and twenty and seventy lbs. on shrimp trawler trash bait.

Sharks have inundated the flats of late; our own Capt. Tony took full advantage of this by piloting the Coolwater for some light tackle action. One fortunate angler snagged a 104-inch Lemon Shark; he was so pleased that he elected to have the toothy predator dual mounted so that it could be displayed on both sides.

We look forward to seeing you in Key West,

Captain Damon Santelli
